Happy Valentine’s Day! After Isabella went to sleep we blew up about 20 red and pink balloons and snuck them into her room! I’m not gonna lie. I was a nervous wreck thinking one of them was going to pop! and wake her up or she was going to wake up while I was sneaking them in there. Thankfully neither of those things happened. Phew! And so we wait….
Valentine’s morning I saw on her monitor that she was awake. So I waited for her to notice the balloons…and I waited….and I waited. Nothing. I couldn’t contain my excitement anymore (who’s the kid?!) so I burst in her room, turn on the light and throw open the curtains. Happy Valentine’s Day Isabella!! She looks at me like I’m nuts through her squinted eyes. Then (finally!) she takes a look around and notices all the balloons. “ooooh!! I like my balloons!” She couldn’t wait to get out of bed and play with them. I was one satisfied mama.
After balloon playing we had breakfast. Grain-free pancakes (recipe below) with strawberries. The pancakes were supposed to be heart shaped. I had picked up a squeeze bottle to be able to draw them on the skillet, but that wasn’t happening. The pancakes are made with mashed bananas and the banana chunks didn’t make for a smooth squirt. Bummer. They were still delish though.
Later that day Isabella decorated her first cookie! During her nap I whipped up some homemade sugar cookies. When she woke up, her and her daddy decorated their cookies with pink strawberry icing and sprinkles. She loved it! Eating them wasn’t so bad either. (Day 2 of Whole30 and I just tried sneaking out to the kitchen to eat one. Thankfully the cookie monster (hubby) must’ve finished them. Phew! Saved!) The family came over for Sunday dinner and enjoyed Isabella’s cookies for dessert.
I’m not a huge Valentine’s Day fan but I have to say this was the best one so far. I love seeing the joy on my babies faces! You should love each other every day, but having an excuse to decorate cookies and surprise them with balloons isn’t so bad either!
We hope you enjoyed your Valentine’s Day! Here are a few images from a mini shoot I had with my babies:
