Periods suck. There’s really no getting around it. Pain, bloating, headaches, cramping, and having to purchase supplies every month can be a real drag. If you’re anything like me, sometimes you forget and you’re left unequipped with period supplies, feeling frantic and occasionally embarrassed. But imagine if you couldn’t even afford to purchase period supplies.
Research has shown that 1 in 4 women have struggled to buy the supplies needed for their period due to lack of income. One in 4 women are left embarrassed and unprepared. That’s why U by Kotex® founded a new program in May of this year to help women in need gain access to essential period supplies.
I don’t typically talk a lot about my period (except to my girlfriends), but this research and the work that U by Kotex® is doing really resonated with me. I’m grateful to the good people on this earth who create programs to lift up women and families in need.
Women Supporting Women
During the entire month of October, for every one U by Kotex® product purchased at Walmart (either in-store, online or through the Grocery app), two products of U by Kotex® pads or liners will be donated to the women who need them. In addition to the 5 million products donated, Walmart will donate $25,000 to the Alliance for Period Supplies.
The period supply issue is larger than forgetting to pack a pad or tampon in our purse. Head to Walmart.com or your local store and advocate for the women that need you. Be a part of the movement to help end period poverty.
