You hear it time and time again…” The days are long, but the years are short.” One day the kids are extremely ornery and the clock seems to tick-tock at super snail speed. By the time they’re tucked quietly in their beds, you’re scrolling through your camera roll looking at pictures of your babies and noticing that the snug shirt they had on today was once loose and baggy what seemed like yesterday. Childhood growth happens in an instant even if you’re not ready for it.
3 Things Nobody Told You About Childhood Growth
The hugs will become few and far between.
My three year old will protest affection like it’s her job these days. Don’t get me wrong, she has her moments and I soaked up every last hug and kiss in those brief moments. My youngest though will wrap his little arms right around my heart neck. I’m going to enjoy these while it lasts!
The frequent growth spurts will almost bankrupt you.
I always know when my kids are having a growth spurt because they eat NON-STOP, the naps are wonderful…and then their clothes start shrinking. I do love to shop for clothes so that part isn’t a problem, but the frequent trips to the grocery store are definitely a pain on the wallet!
It’s over before you know it.
We all have good days and bad days. Meltdowns and explosions of love for our children. We continue to wake up each day and hope to put our best foot forward, trying to do better than the day before. You think this is the day I’m going to master parenting. (I can assure you no one is mastering parenting.) At the end of the day, we’ve just created more memories for our children. Memories they’ll have to look back on long after their childhood. So what will you deposit into their memory banks today?

This is so cute! I might have to make one for my son! I love that you can take it with you if you move as opposed to just doing it on a wall or something.
