Rarely do my husband and I get out and go on a date. Between our schedules and not being a fan of going out at night anymore it’s hard to come up with ideas on what to do. Sure we could go out to dinner, but that can lose it’s thrill after a while. Neither of us have been into the bar scene since having kids. They are less than considerate the following morning when we’re exhausted. Several years ago before we were married we went zip-lining and LOVED it. So when Treehoppers, an aerial adventure park in Dade City FL, reached out and invited us to come check out their amazing course we jumped on it! This type of adventure seemed to be right up our alley.
Treehoppers is the perfect day date adventure OR family outing! Children ages 5+ are welcome to climb in designated areas. Since our kids aren’t quite old enough yet it was the perfect opportunity to get away and call it a date. When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff who got us all harnessed up and led us over to the training area. We were given a run through on how/when to use our clips before heading off to a practice area to test it out. Once we completed our test run we were given the green light to head out on to the main course. There are several different level courses to choose from ranging from beginner to double black diamond (super advanced!). We decided to try out the green courses (moderate level) which contained a total of 19 elements and 3 zip lines. I have to admit that I was a little scared starting off the course. My husband went first each time and was able to coach me through each element and cheer me on. Going through these elements and courses is an incredible bonding experience with your partner! Having kids can cause some friction and frustrations to arise on a daily basis, but when you’re out doing an activity like this it really washes away all those feelings and allows you to reconnect and have FUN!

Treehoppers isn’t just for adults though! Kids ages 5+ are welcome to go out and experience the thrill too. I’m looking forward to my kids getting older and going on these types of family adventures. Check out this video of our experience. You’ll notice that in some of the clips there is a kid going before my husband. His younger brother was actually in front of him and they were rocking it! The kids are fearless! Just to point out as well, there is staff all over the grounds in case you get stuck or need to be rescued, but in most cases a little coaching goes a long way.
Tip ♦ Eat a hearty meal before you go! We came off the course not necessarily wanting water but saying we were HUNGRY! After talking with the staff this is a super common feeling from everyone!
