The time has come to finally reveal our mudroom makeover! When we first moved in, the closet on the other side of this wall was closed up and opened into the laundry room to create this mudroom space.
Me and closets closets closets don’t go well. I can easily turn any closet into a Monica’s Closet. (If you got those two references, you’re my people.) Open concept forces me to organize and stay organized.
I am so completely in love with this functional room as a whole now. [You can view the opposite side in our laundry room reveal.]

In our previous house was a custom built window seat bookshelf in our son’s superhero bedroom. Since we weren’t able to use it in his room any longer, the bookshelf was re-purposed to create the mudroom bench.
The bookshelf was topped with stair treads my husband biscuit joined together and stained.
For more texture and without being monotonous with shiplap (as seen in our kitchen before/after), we opted to use beadboard on the back wall along with 1 x 3 and 1 x 6 boards to create a board and batten look.
The entire upper unit was primed with Kilz oil based primer (and still lives in my hair) and then sprayed with a Behr Ultra White paint.
Wagner Spraytech Flexio 3000
Words can’t express how much I love this sprayer. And I’m shocked that I am even saying this haha!
With all the cubbies and beadboard, rolling and using a brush for the primer was TEDIOUS.
We smartened up when it came time to paint and upgraded to the Wagner Spraytech Flexio 3000. I’ll talk more about this later, but for now, just know you need this before taking on your next project.
