If you’ve ever dreamed of having more privacy in your yard then this faux plant wall is for you! It also functions as purely decorative as well.
Over the past couple months we’ve worked with Barrette Outdoor Living to transform our curb appeal. A low concrete wall was replaced with a beautiful composite deck, cable infill railing and Decorative Screen Panels (DSPs) that functions as a privacy plant wall.

Our goal in the [near] future is to remove this L shaped concrete wall (shown above), but we didn’t want to lose the privacy aspect.
While there are several tutorials out there to build your own plant wall panels, we opted for something a little more long term – Boardwalk Decorative Screen Panels. These DSPs are low-maintenance and resist warping, rot, twisting, splitting, discoloration and scratching. DSPs can be installed using their frame kit, hung or even used as decorative infill in select railing products.

DIY Faux Privacy Plant Wall
We started by installing the frame kit according to instructions; securing to deck. Once both posts and lower support piece were installed, slide your DSPs into place. You can use up to 3 in the frame kits.

The DSP alone adds so much visual interest!

I was walking through IKEA one day and fell in love with one of the outdoor display setups. I had to mimick it!
For the plants (I chose FAUX because black thumb, but you could definitely do this with real plants), I purchased the SUNNERSTA containers and drilled a couple drainage holes in the bottom since our plant wall was exposed to the elements.

Each container was filled three-quarters with pea gravel (any small stone would work). Next I started arranging 2-3 small stems purchased from Hobby Lobby in each container. Whatever pleases you goes!

Here is what I ended up with:

The Result!
