We all have an idea of how we’re going to “parent” before we have kids. There’s a whole lot of “I’ll never do _____.” or “My kids won’t ever _____.”. For me, one of the biggest things I said B.C. (before children) was that I will never co-sleep. (Insert laughing-crying emoji here) It happened occasionally when Isabella was a baby and it for sure went out the window with Gabriel.
A few months ago I came across a product that would have saved us during our many nights of co-sleeping and getting punched and kicked in the face. You may have also seen it…the DockATot. I wanted to find out if it was worth the price tag…and in the end I found 3 4 useful ways to use your DockATot to justify the cost.
Sleeping & Co-Sleeping
As a new parent you fear the worst about a lot of things, for instance you or your partner rolling over onto the baby in the middle of the night. It’s a valid fear, but you don’t need to give up on having your baby close. The DockATot was designed to nurture and comfort your little one with its cozy, small environment. Rest assured it would be pretty impossible to roll over on your babe when they’re sleeping in their DockATot. The DockATot can even be placed in your baby’s crib if you’re adamant on not co-sleeping. It will fit snugly and make your baby feel as though they’re not alone.
Lounging
This is probably where we get the most use out of our DockATot Grande right now as the kids are a bit older. We have ours setup in the playroom where Isabella and Gabriel can lounge back and watch cartoons. Actually I’m pretty sure my husband and I have been caught laying in it as well. It’s super comfortable! I will also place it on the couch when Isabella is lounging just in case she falls asleep. She has been known to fall off the couch from time to time.
Tummy Time
You bring your baby home from the hospital and now pediatricians recommend you start tummy time right away. Most people register for a boppy pillow which can be used for nursing or tummy time when they’re a little bit older. But I didn’t breastfeed so for a while I had 2 pillows taking up space in my house. Get rid of them. You can use the head of the DockATot just the same as one of those pillows.
Travel
The DockATot can also be folded up and taken along for travel. It’s much lighter than a portable crib and can be placed on the floor or in your bed. Isabella even drags it out from her room to lounge in the living – that’s how light it is. (She has zero upper body strength. It’s sad really.)
