Mom’s need to be ready for anything their kids hurl at her. Be prepared with your own mom emergency car kit.
Between school drop off, pickup, errands and weekend activties, it feels like we spend an awful lot of time in the car. My husband will randomly clean out my car and find a single diaper (from the toddler that refuses to potty train) shoved in the back seat pocket, a package of wipes on the floor, Target bags that I’m hiding from him, crayons, notepads and the list could go on and on.
The time had come to develop a more organized system for the car. I’m proud to present the MOM CAR KIT: BACK TO SCHOOL EDITION!
I’m not really sure why I didn’t do this sooner. Now that we have one child in school, we spend more time in the car with morning drop off.
One morning my daughter almost refused to wear her uniform sweater because it had lint on it. Boom! My new car kit had a mini travel-size lint roller! Forget to sign a form or finish a homework sheet? No problem, my emergency car kit has a pencil bag with pens, pencils and crayons.
I discovered the SnapBasket TrunkCaddy which comes in packs of two. Each basket has the ability to collapse when not in use and has velcro on the sides to create a modular system. I created a four-basket system for the trunk to include the Mom Car Kit, beach essentials, grocery storage, and blankets for the park or my side photography.
They’d even be great for little ones in sports. Each caddy is designed with handles to easily take shopping bags/groceries into the house.
Emergency Car Kit
Every mom’s car kit may look different depending on the age of their children. Here is a list of supplies I’ve included in my SnapBasket TrunkCaddy:
- First-aid kit
- spare diapers
- wet wipes
- Snacks (granola bars, nuts…protein snacks that won’t melt in the heat)
- Change of clothes for each of my kids
- Bug spray
- lint roller
- Tide pen
- mini packs of tissues
- hand sanitizer
- Pencil case
- hair ties
Whether my kid has a blowout, a boo-boo, or on the verge of a low blood-sugar meltdown, this mom is covered!
