When I was in 7th grade I was tasked with creating a project about myself and my family ancestry. Here was a pie chart made up of approximate percentages of Italian, Irish, French, etc based on what my family thought. Who really knows who they are?! That’s why I’m so happy to share that you actually CAN find out your family ancestry with 23andMe!
23andMe is a company started with the mission to take data, learn from it, improve healthcare and prevent disease. They have two kits available to help you discover yourself, family members, and analyze genes to uncover if you’re a carrier for certain inherited conditions. They make the most unique and personalized gifts for those hard to shop for loved ones too. (What’s more personal that learning about yourself?!) Wouldn’t it be so cool to have something to talk about at your next family gathering?!
23andMe kits:
- (This is the one I’m doing.)
- Health & Ancestry
This DNA ancestry kits is super simple to use. Inside the kit contains a tube for a saliva sample along with a bag to seal the sample. The box that your kit came in is pre-addressed and ready to use to mail in the saliva sample. Prior to mailing the sample you’ll register your kit online (takes 5 minutes). Results will be delivered to your email in 6-8 weeks!
Give the gift of family this year and save with one of 23andMe’s special offers found .

Brilliant, I’ve just finished our family tree (could only get to 1716) and have been toying with 23AndMe for ages, you’ve just tipped me over the edge! I had no idea they were so affordable!
