How do you get through that afternoon slump?! Coffee, coffee and more coffee? Try these 3 simple things instead.
The kids are reluctant to nap, your to-do list is growing by the day and you have deadlines/conference calls/appointments to take care of. You find yourself (re)heating your cold coffee or pouring your 3-4-5 cup of the day but still feeling tired, am I right? While coffee is my main source of energy first thing in the morning, I’ve found other ways to come in with the assist on the rest of my day.
How to Get Through the Afternoon Slump
Coffee is great, but it doesn’t always solve the problem, especially if your body has built up a tolerance to it. Try these other ideas to regain energy and get you through the rest of your day.
Drink More Water!
The most simple yet challenging tip for more energy for some of us is drinking more water. When I don’t get enough water throughout the day I feel like a wilted flower. Do whatever it takes to drink more whether that’s adding fresh lemon or other natural flavors to your glass.

Grab a Superfood Snack
Snack smarter! Ditch the high-calorie, low-nutrient snacks and reach for a healthier snack. I like to keep Blue Diamond Whole Natural Almonds in my desk drawer for an afternoon pick-me-up. They’re an excellent source of vitamins and minerals like vitamin E and magnesium. Besides the health benefits, the fresh taste and crunch help keep me alert.
You can find Whole Natural Almonds at your local Walmart and available in a can, resealable bag and even convenient snack portions to toss in your bag on the way out the door.

Get up and Stretch
Make sure to take breaks often. Push back from your desk and do a lap around the office or some squats at your desk. Try one of these 17 Desk Stretches. Wearing a smart watch can help to remind you to get up and stretch as well.
