CREATING A COZY FAMILY NIGHT IN

Sharing is caring!

We had our first chilly weekend of the season and wanted nothing more than to stay inside under a warm, fuzzy blanket drinking hot lattes while wearing our coziest jammies and watching a good Netflix marathon. BC Sundays were the best day for cuddling on the couch and taking the best/longest naps while my husband watched football. Now the kiddos pull up their favorite fleece blankets and we have an ultimate cozy family night in. Here are just a few of our favorite things to create the perfect lazy evening.

family fun night games, fun activities to do with, family family night out ideas, family night ideas with toddlers

#1 Hot Chocolates & Lattes

Sometimes the only thing that can take the chill out of your bones is a steamy hot chocolate or latte. Top with handfuls of tiny marshmallows, whipped cream, chocolate syrup or even a dash of Baileys. 😉

#2 Movie Marathons

While Sundays are for football in my husband’s eyes, they were made for chick flix and Disney’s best for me and the kids. We fire up one of our favorite movies like Moana, Tinkerbell, or Trolls on Netflix or stream one of the thousands of movies available through Amazon Prime.

#3 Cozy Blankets

Everyone in my family is a sucker for soft, cuddly blankets. The kids love their character fleece throws like these Frozen and Paw Patrol ones. But my favorite is this super soft and cozy faux fur throw I purchased recently. (Bonus – it’s on sale for $15.99)

#4 Snacks on Snacks

Every cuddle and movie session needs snacks, especially when toddlers are involved. My son and I are big time popcorn lovers, while my daughter is a sucker for dried cereal. My husband…well, he’s a man child and his go-to is cookies and milk. Whatever your taste, snacks are a must-have.

#5 Ambience

You have your cozy blankets, warm drinks, and essential snacks, but you HAVE to set the scene. There’s nothing that gives me a mellow vibe more than a fall scented candle or two. The warm scent combined with the flickers of the flame in a dimly lit room is coziness at its finest.

#6 Look the Part

The first thing I do on any given evening when I get home from work is slip into some comfy pajama pants or sweats. When the weather is chilly enough and my calendar is clear, we don’t even bother to change out of them on the weekend. My daughter needs to feel like a princess at all times so this style is her favorite. I can’t get enough of my little guy in these adorable man pajamas. (You can see his adorableness here.) My absolute favorite lounge pants have the most perfect wide waist band with drawstring and available in a variety of prints/colors. My love runs so deep for them.
