Thank you Target for sponsoring this post!
Without a doubt, the kitchen is not only the heart of the home, but also the hardest working room in your home. It’s where family members spend time together and where meals are conceived, cooked and then stored and cleaned up.
Above all others, this room needs to hum with efficiency yet remain comfortable and attractive. And while I can’t tell you exactly what to put where since your kitchen organization needs to fit your particular kitchen design (and your lifestyle!), I can give you some effective kitchen organization hacks that can apply to most kitchens.
With our busy lifestyles, who has time to organize their kitchens – not to mention clean them? I understand completely! There are days that feel like I get nothing productive accomplished. That’s why I focus on simple, inexpensive solutions that really work.
Today’s tips aren’t time-sucking ideas; they’re time-saving solutions for your kitchen.

How to Organize Your Kitchen: My 3 Favorite Kitchen Organization Hacks
These kitchen organization tips, in addition to some quick and easy cleaning tips, will keep your kitchen humming and sparkling no matter how busy you are.
1. Utilize Baskets
I can’t tell you how much I love baskets. They’re cute, affordable, and highly versatile. With just a few baskets, you can organize your kitchen (or pantry). But the best part is that if you add labels to help family members use your method, the system does all the heavy lifting for you to keep you organized.

This four piece set of fridge and pantry bins make it easy to organize snacks and access items.
2. Store Baking Sheets and Muffin Tins Vertically
No one, ever, said they enjoy pulling their cookie sheets out from under all your other bakeware. Here’s a genius (and affordable) kitchen organization tip! Instead of piling them on top of each other, a bakeware storage rack is easy to slip into your cabinet to create a practically instant fix.
3. Cabinet Risers
How many times have you stacked mugs, cans, or other food items in your cabinets only to have them come crashing down the moment the cabinet door was closed a little too hard? I discovered cabinet risers when I reorganized our kitchen cabinets, and they have been life-changing.
A tiered cabinet riser is most commonly used for organizing spice jars, but in my case I’m utilizing this expandable riser to house baking supplies.

4. Storage Containers
Not everyone is into decanting and I get that, but not only does it save space, it also saves money. Clear stackable food containers allow you to see how much of an item you have left AND keep foods fresh longer.

Target’s line of Brightroom storage containers are some of my favorites to use around the house as well because of their price point. I have used them in my son’s bedroom for block storage and also in the playroom for coloring supplies.
There are so many affordable storage and organization options at Target. My best tip is not to limit yourself to one area. If you’re looking for kitchen storage, also stop by the bath aisle! I’ve found some really great dual purpose organization there.

1. Cleaning Wipes
I kid you not. Cleaning wipes are my secret weapon when it comes to keeping the kitchen clean (and disinfected). Once I get the food put away and the dishes in the dishwasher, I simply wipe everything down with cleaning wipes.
It only takes 5 minutes (or less, sometimes), and I have the peace of mind knowing the kitchen sparkles and is germ-free. Plus, they make your appliances look amazing!
2. Harness the Power of Lemons
If you’ve never used lemons to help keep your kitchen clean, you’ve been missing out on an incredible time-saving trick. Lemons not only remove grease with ease, but they also disinfect and make everything smell fresh and amazing. Use lemons to clean your microwave, deodorize your disposal, and shine your faucets.
3. Keep Your Range Clean
A range covered in spills and grease makes the entire kitchen look as if it’s never been cleaned. There are some simple ways to keep your range looking fresh and shiny – without spending hours scrubbing:
- Soak your range hood filters in hot water in your sink and add baking soda. It’ll look new without any effort on your part!
- The range seems to be a magnet for grease, dust, and splatters. Eliminate that problem by wiping it down with cooking spray!
- Use lemons to remove cooked on grease and grime from your stove. It’ll smell amazing.
Keeping your kitchen clean and organized can eat up your day – or with just a few simple but effective kitchen organization hacks the job can practically take care of itself.
