The Best Preschool Age Toys for Toddlers

Sharing is caring!

It’s Back to School time and we’re kicking it into high gear with some of the best preschool age toys for toddlers. You’ll never guess where the toys that I’m about to show you are from…ORIENTAL TRADING!

Wait, what?! I thought that was just for party supplies? Nope. We found some fun, educational toys that Isabella AND Gabriel can both play with! Obviously not together though because they lack the sharing trait. We’re trying to work on that though so if you have any tips please let me know! Some days all I hear is screaming because one of them took something from the other…doesn’t even matter if they were currently playing with it.

Here are our picks:

Melissa & Doug® Geometric Stacker

We’re practicing skill-building with colors, shapes, and sizes. Gabriel also likes to throw them down on the hard floor and make loud noises. Isabella works a little harder to match the square shapes and fit them together like a puzzle.

Benefits: Skill building, learn colors, shapes and sizes.

Melissa & Doug® Farm Animals Sound Puzzle

Now that Gabriel is a little older we’re working on sitting him down for an activity. Puzzles were one of Isabella’s favorite toddler toys and this one is so much fun! When you place the correct animal in its spot it makes the animal sound! Gabriel’s favorite animal sound that he mimicks is a dog, Woof! Woof!

Benefits: Learn problem-solving skills, measure with their eyes, and learn barnyard animal sounds

Following Directions Farm Game

This one was really fun! It comes with a series of cards, barnyard theme chipboard cutouts, and a wooden stand. The mission is to recreate the picture placing each item in the correct location. Isabella could always use more practice following directions!

Benefits: visual skills, follow directions.

Melissa & Doug® Cutting Food Set

I think this was Isabella’s favorite activity! She has always been interested in watching us in the kitchen (while sneaking food). This set comes with various fruits, vegetables and bread, a cutting board, and a wooden knife for cutting. Each item is stuck together with velcro and the object is to slice through. Bonus is the crunching sound it makes when you slide through the velcro.

Benefits: Teach parts of a whole and fractions.
