Mealtime Help for the Picky Eaters

I have such horrible memories of dinnertime during my childhood. I was the picky eater that didn’t like anything and gagged on everything…My dad probably was the most annoyed at watching my face turn bright red as I gagged on the mashed potatoes (I was chewing). I tried everything…wiping my mouth – aka discreetly spitting my food in my napkin, spreading the mashed potatoes around my plate, hiding vegetables under my fork or napkin declaring I was all done. The worst thing? When my food touched each other. Shudder. And what did this get me? Well more time at the dinner table for starters…but a daughter that is exactly like me. Paybacks.

While I can’t force her to eat her vegetables (don’t worry I have other sneaky ways of including veggies in her food), I can help so that her food doesn’t touch. There’s nothing worse than having a piece of broccoli on your delicious mac & cheese! So when I came across the Food Cubby I knew we had to try it!

The Food Cubby is a BPA free, food-grade silicone, U-shaped divider that suctions onto your existing plates. No more cheap, plastic divider plates for us! The divider area can also be used as a measure for portion control allowing for 1/2 cup of food. Simply place 2 dividers back to back and you have 4 separate compartments of non-touching food! Genius right?! The best part is that the Food Cubby was designed by a 6 year old. Why couldn’t I be that brilliant at age 6???

While you can certainly use your Food Cubby on your regular dinnerware, my kids aren’t quite ready to handle such breakables. We paired our cubbies with these Lollaland plates.

Lollaland mealtime sets are BPA-free and phthalate-free. One of the huge sellers for me is they’re microwave and dishwasher safe. They’re super simple plates and bowls, but available in fun, bright colors. We snagged some matching bowls and dipping cups too!
