The temps are warming up which means family dinners outdoors! We purchased this outdoor acacia dining set a few years ago and it’s held up really well in our covered patio. However, there were some marks and stains from the kids’ craft projects so I needed to do a bit more than the typical seasonal refresh.
The Prep Work
As you can see from the picture above, the table not only needs a good cleaning, but there are paint marks that I haven’t been able to get off.
For the cleaning step, I’m using this teak cleaner. It works on all different types of wood, such as, acacia, eucalyptus, bamboo and more.
The cleaner worked really well at getting off the typical dirt and grime. Because of some discoloration and paint marks that weren’t coming out, I decided to sand it all down and refinish the wood.
Tip: Try to avoid pressure washing your teak furniture as it can damage the wood.
Refinishing the Acacia Wood
To bring the warm, rich color back in I used my favorite semi-transparent cedar color wood stain. After two coats, I was really happy with the finish and sealed it a teak oil.
Our outdoor dining table now looks BRAND NEW! I was really pleased with these two teak products and plan to use them on a pair of outdoor rocking chairs we have on the front porch.
I already had the exterior stain leftover from a prior project, so for just under $20 and some elbow grease, I was able to transform and refinish our outdoor dining space!
