Add festive touches to your living room and kitchen with these easy DIY farmhouse Christmas decor crafts.
The halls are currently being decked and we’re brimming with holiday cheer. After decorating my daughter’s white tree in her bedroom, I set out for the main living space.
During our move, I uncovered my old crafting supplies and set out to make some new farmhouse Christmas decor for our living room mantel and kitchen.
Always feeling on a time crunch, I wanted to set realistic expectations for myself and keep the DIY fairly basic on these decor projects. For the most part all you’ll need is a hot glue gun (and a cold glass of wine nearby for finger burns).
Last year I made these adorable rustic farmhouse stocking tags and plan to hang them again this year with the rest of the Christmas decor.
DIY Farmhouse Christmas Decor
Typically I don’t like much on our kitchen counters, but we have a very large kitchen island with plenty of space for decor.
To create this simple DIY farmhouse tabletop display you’ll need the following supplies.
- Mini cream frosted sisal trees
- Large round wood slice
- Mini pinecones
- Wood reindeer
- Pinecone votive candle holder
Pretty basic, but would be such a cute part of your farmhouse Christmas centerpieces also. If you plan on moving the arrangement, I’d recommend hot gluing the pieces to the wood slice.
To create this hanging advent banner you’ll need the following supplies:
- Mini burlap stockings
- Black & white ribbon
- Sharpie markers
- Clothespins
- Felt pom-poms
- Wood stars
Hot glue wood stars to the burlap stockings and write numbers 1-12 on the stars. Hot glue felt pom-poms to conceal the stocking hook. Use mini clothespins to hang advent on your choice of ribbon across the mantel.
To create the mini-felt ball cone tree you’ll need the following supplies:
- Felt pom-poms
- Cardboard cones
- Wood stars
- gold glitter Acrylic paint
Starting at the base, hot glue felt pom-poms around the cardboard cone. Adding layers until you reach the top. Paint stars with acrylic paint and hot glue as tree decor. Top with a larger gold star.
Other rustic items included in the farmhouse Christmas decor for mantels:
- Large metallic gold lantern
- Wood reindeer
- Christmas tree shelf
- Mini pinecones in Mini copper lantern
- Snowy pin picks to fill in space and also used to create the tree on the far left
Along the hearth of the mantel is our DIY farmhouse serving tray. I placed a couple neutral pillows to add warmth and a long Magnolia garland for greenery. On the serving tray are these Gold geo terrarium candle holders filled with larger cinnamon scented pinecones.
