I started this blog as an outlet to share family memories and photos. My thoughts and posts may have drifted here and there, but I’m starting a new feature where I recap the weekends. Some may be boring and other’s jam-packed…but that’s just our life! I hope you’ll stick around and share your weekends with us too! I love reading all your comments!
Last week I mentioned on Instagram that Gabriel was waking almost every night for a couple hours. It was an exhausting week to say the least. Friday night was even worse. He woke up at 3:30 and never.went.back.to.sleep. Ugh! We had planned to take the kids on the Holiday Express Train to Santa’s cabin and it almost didn’t happen because I was just so tired. I drank a large cup of coffee and powered through a quick shower before my husband went to work and we made it happen.
The train, which was long bench seats that you straddle, took us down to another little section of the park where Santa’s cabin was. Isabella got her face painted with snowflakes…because #Frozen. Gabriel was fussy; undoubtedly because he woke before dawn. After the last attempt to sit on Santa’s lap, I figured we wouldn’t press it this time and just let them take a peek in at Santa and Mrs. Claus. Isabella took one look, screamed “Santa! Ah!” and ran the other way. I did get Gabriel to wave and say hi! to Santa from a distance. Maybe next year…
We grabbed some popcorn, took some photos in the cardboard cutouts and took a longer train ride through the park. The route was decked out in holiday ornaments and decorations with a small section of fake snow. Gabriel was so relaxed with fist fulls of popcorn that he fell asleep sitting up. I checked on him to see if he saw something I was pointing at and his eyes were closed, mouth and hands full of popcorn. Too funny! Isabella played on the playground for a bit while Gabriel took a much needed nap on mommy.
Here’s a combo of cell phone and camera pics! (All the outfit details are linked at the bottom.)

On Sunday, Isabella decided we needed to go find winter. (We live in Florida.) So I amused her and we “bundled” up and went outside in the 70° weather. We made it across the street to Tootsie and Poppy’s house where they searched for snow, polar bears and whales (? a sign of winter??). At the end I asked her if we found winter and she said no….but we did find fall and leaves! Her imagination is amazing. I love the things she comes up with!
