Disney’s all new Lightning McQueen Racing Academy is now open at Hollywood Studios and is perfect for all ages and Cars fans everywhere!
Special thank you to the Disney team for hosting us and inviting us out to enjoy the new show and a day in the parks!
OK let’s get right into it! Hollywood Studios has quickly become a favorite destination for toddlers and preschoolers with it’s revamped Disney Jr Dance Party, Toy Story Land, Celebrate the Incredibles on Pixar Ave and now a special Cars themed show, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy!
The Lightning McQueen Racing Academy is located in Sunset Boulevard behind the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and runs from 9 AM to 8:30 PM (show is under 20 minutes). At this time Fast Pass is unavailable. While you wait, head out to the courtyard and experience all the fun and excitement of DJ’s Ready! Set! Party Time! Cast members get the kids involved in a super fun, Cars themed dance and game party.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT DISNEY’S LIGHTNING MCQUEEN RACING ACADEMY
Once you enter the Sunset Showcase, you’ll see a large auditorium with bench seating and a huge wraparound screen. Lightning McQueen will take you on a wild ride with a state-of-the-art racing simulator teaching you all he knows about racing and a valuable lesson towards the end. Other favorite members from the Cars gang make appearances including Tow Mater, Cruz Ramirez and more of the gang from Radiator Springs.
The Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy is perfect for kids of all ages. (Quick tip: If your child is not wild about loud noises, bring a pair of noise canceling headphones or something for their ears. It’s not a huge issue, but my son held his ears for most of the show to muffle the audio. Most kids seemed perfectly fine though after looking around the audience.)

We spent the rest of the day walking through Toy Story Land and riding our favorite rides, Alien Swirling Saucers and battling each other in Toy Story Mania before heading over to Animal Kingdom. (View our tips for taking toddlers to Animal Kingdom here.)
Make sure to stop by Joffrey’s right outside of Toy Story Land for THE BEST coffee and donuts! (Highly recommend the iced caramel latte and sprinkle donuts!)
