WHOO is ready for Bed?!

Me. I’m ready for bed! All day every day! 😉 But not my girl…she has been fighting bedtime like it’s her job lately. So when WHOO is Ready for Bed reached out for us to try their interactive children’s book we literally had nothing to lose and everything to gain! We set out to create a new bedtime routine without all the fuss!

WHOO is it for?

The WHOO is ready for bed book and owl was designed to help children establish a good bedtime routine. While we used to have that, ever since switching Isabella to a toddler bed our bedtime routine has fallen to shambles. We were both fumbling around not quite sure of what to do. In hindsight I think our approach was a little off.

We had decided to surprise Isabella with a toddler bed for her 3rd birthday, which happened to fall on the weekend that her and I took a girls trip to NJ. We arrived back home late. She was tired and super cranky and her reaction to her new bed was less than excited. In fact, to put it bluntly, she was pissed. She wanted the side back up and she wanted it done now.

Unfortunately we hadn’t bought the converter kit, my husband just rebuilt the rail using the existing piece. There was no way that side was going back up. From there she developed an aversion to darkness and going to bed in general. There is apparently something very comforting about being trapped in your bed.

Hi Mr. Owl!

Our WHOO is ready for bed book and owl arrived and over the weekend we tested it out. It’s designed as a 3 day system and after the 3rd successful night of going to bed without a peep the child is rewarded with a special treat of your choosing.

Day 1

Day 1 was pretty successful. Isabella was really, really excited to open her new package. (We have that in common. #happymail) The plush owl was super soft and cute. We set him out to watch us as we read the book and performed our new bedtime tasks of putting on pajamas, cleaning up toys, brushing her teeth, giving hugs and kisses, and our added task of making sure her socks are on. (Yes, she HAS to have socks on to go to sleep….in Florida. It makes me hot just thinking about it!)

PJ’s on! Check!

See! My socks are on!

She marked off each task with the dry erase crayon (included) as she completed it, circled her first successful night of completed tasks and climbed into bed. I’d like to say she stayed there, but…..well, I’m sure you know.

Day 2

Day 2…It was time to start our new routine again and instead of the whining and crying she was excited to see her owl again! I considered this system a success at this point LOL! She performed her tasks again, climbed into bed and pretty much without a peep (but still awake playing) went to bed.

Day 3

Day 3 came and went just as successfully, if not more! I can honestly say that WHOO is ready for bed was EXACTLY what we needed to figure out our new bedtime routine! Every night since then has gone rather well. I’m so grateful for this idea and new bedtime help. She has always loved bedtime stories and I love that we can include that every night.

Recommended!

I highly recommend this to anyone struggling with bedtime or having trouble creating a new bedtime routine for their little ones! You can incorporate a bedtime story and all the things that need to get done before bedtime anyway…and have them be involved in the process! Win win!

That owl is so cute. I'm glad the product worked out for you and your family. I only have a 10-month-old now, but I can see how this would totally work for toddlers.
