This past weekend we took our annual trip to the local farm to go strawberry picking with the kids. We always have such a good time there and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. The past few weeks we’ve been struggling with never ending sickness, therefore have been staying home far more than we’d actually like. The containment was getting to us and our moods. There’s only so many times we can watch Toy Story or Moana before going crazy.
I thought I would share some photos from our trip there. These are always my absolute favorite of the kids! But also some reasons why I think you should go strawberry picking with kids.

Learning Experience
Taking your kids strawberry picking is a great learning experience. They can see how produce is grown and visit with the local farmers. I have one of the blackest thumbs ever, so it’s nice to be able to educate them on farming and growing fruits/veggies in a place where it can actually happen. The farm that we go to has live animals too. We were able to feed them huge lettuce leaves which was exciting.
Wholesome Fun
My kids love being outside. As a mom, I love when the TV is off and they’re interacting with their surroundings. U-Pick farms will typically have other activities there for the kids as well. The kids were able to play in the sandbox and ride on the tire swing. Sometimes the simplest activities are the most fun. They even made friends with some other kids and ran around playing hide and seek.

Freshest Produce…Ever!
The sweet juicy strawberries that you pick straight from the vine taste 1000 times better than from the grocery store. Plus we were able to sample 5 different varieties. Who knew there were even that many! When you pick the reddest strawberries the taste is just out of this world.
