Are you ready for fall? I have 5 very simple home decor DIYs using basic unfinished wood pieces from your local craft store. Let’s get started!

I smell fall; you know the scent, warm vanilla with a subtle hint of pumpkin spice. This is one of my favorite times of year to decorate, second to Christmas that is.
While I was out browsing fall home decor I got some great inspiration for easy DIYs even the most beginner crafter could do. All of these home decor items uses a basic wood form from Michael’s (or any craft store local to you).

Matte Black Blocked Rectangle Paddle Serving Board
To create this custom serving board, use painter’s tape to block off the areas of your board that you don’t wish to paint. Using a foam paint brush and chalk paint (or any matte acrylic paint) paint your board. Once dry, apply 2-3 coats of polycrylic before coming in contact with food.
You can use these boards to add to your kitchen decor. Prop near oven or hang several on a wall to create a focal point.

Supplies Used:
- wood frame sign
- faux leather
- vinyl
- tacky glue
Give Thanks Wall Plaque
To create a shiplap look on your wood plaque, draw evenly spaced lines either with a pencil or fine pointe marker. Next cut a 6 x 6 piece of faux leather and add to the center of the sign using tacky glue. Next cut your saying with any vinyl cutter or pre-purchased decal and display for all to see!

- black chalk paint or matte acrylic paint
Black Thankful Tray Box
Start with your pre-made black box and paint black. To create the leather plaque, cut any label image from the Cricut design space and add to circle holes to be cut for the rivets. Next cut the word Thankful in your font choice and apply to the leather label.
Next you’ll line up the leather label and mark the holes needed for the rivets. Using a smaller or similar size drill bit, pre-drill your holes. Add the leather label and tap in your rivets. You can add a bit of glue if they’re not a tight fit.
Display your tray box as a table centerpiece with pumpkins or faux floral for a festive fall decor accent.

Orange Thankful Pumpkin with Leather Detail
Paint your pumpkin block in the color of your choice. Cut a piece of faux leather using your vinyl cutting machine. You can search “labels” in images to find one you like. Next cut the word thankful out of black vinyl and apply to the leather label using transfer tape. Add the leather detail on to the pumpkin with tacky glue.
Style your pumpkin piece with your other fall home decor items. Tip: Group items of 3 on an accent table or mantel.

Pumpkin Background Sentiment Wall Plaque
To create this sign, I cut removable vinyl with autumn related words and applied as a stencil to my wood sign. If you do not have a vinyl cutting machine like the Cricut Air Explore, you can also use stencils from the craft store.
Paint your stencil with a matte gray acrylic paint and small craft brush. Paint a flat pumpkin form (check your local dollar store!) in a burnt orange or terracotta craft paint using a foam paint brush.
Once dry apply your pumpkin to the sign using tacky glue.
Hang your new wall art on the wall or display on accent tables and fireplace mantels.
