Three o’clock rolls around and the littlest gets up from his nap and the oldest gets home from school. Both are overdue for a snack to hold them off until dinner. Instead of reaching for a sugary snack that will just leave them crashing at witching hour, we choose protein-rich snacks like yogurt with fun toppings. Ice cream bars are super fun and a kid-favorite, but not a good choice of nutrition. We took this concept and created the perfect after-school yogurt bar.

My kids absolutely love yogurt and fresh fruits. Using just a few ingredients we usually have on hand, we each can create our own custom yogurt bowls for a high protein snack. FAGE Total 0% Plain Greek Yogurt is super creamy and delicious, using real milk and live active yogurt cultures. We choose toppings like granola, raspberries, peanut or almond butters, and a drizzle of honey to sweeten it up.
One of the reasons I love this type of snack option is because it’s lower in sugar than any other snacks my kids would choose. FAGE Total Plain Greek Yogurt doesn’t contain any added sugar, so the only sugars they’re eating are natural from the fresh fruits.
BUILDING YOUR YOGURT BAR
1. Pick out 4-5 of your favorite toppings.
Nuts: almond slivers, peanuts, etc.
Granola: plain granola, cinnamon flavored
Fruits: Berries, Bananas, dried fruits like cranberries
Nut Butters
Sweetener (optional): organic honey, pure maple syrup
2. Choose FAGE Total Plain Greek Yogurt.
3. Bowls and spoons.
I will arrange the toppings in the middle of my counter and spoon out a serving of yogurt into the kids’ bowls. They will each choose their toppings and add to their own yogurts! It’s a fun, hands-on snack! Isabella is my berry girl and will choose raspberries, granola and a drizzle of honey. I’m a total nut fanatic though! I love a spoonful of peanut butter (or almond butter, whichever I have on hand), crunchy granola and honey.
Check out our favorite combinations:
Combo 1: Granola, raspberries & drizzle of honey

Option 2: 1 scoop of peanut butter, granola, drizzle of honey (my personal FAV!)

Option 3: The loaded bowl! Granola, raspberries, peanut butter and honey
