TEACHING KIDS THE TRUE MEANING OF THE HOLIDAYS

The holidays are here and is made obvious whenever you walk into a store. Social media is bombarded with sale ads and the top gifts to purchase for family and friends. There’s an overwhelming feeling that you’re not buying your kids enough and instills anxiety when we should be feeling joy and peace. I constantly have to remind myself that while it feels good to be able to give physical gifts to loved ones it’s not all the season is about. This year I’m partnering with a socially conscious brand inspired by motherhood to teach my kids the true meaning of the holidays.

As moms we always want the best for our kids. We’re always on the lookout for the safest, organic products to use for them. Ways to Teach Kids the True Meaning of the Holidays

Talk about those less fortunate.

My oldest is four and while it may be hard for her to wrap her mind around some kids not having families I’ve started to explain that not all kids have as much as she does. Talking about those less fortunate teaches kids to be grateful for what they have. As much as I’d love to shelter her from certain truths it doesn’t do any good. There’s less greed and more giving when you have an open conversation.

Establish Family Traditions

The holidays are also about family. Appreciating those around you and finding joy in their presence. I shared our family traditions recently and hope that they leave lifetime impressions on our little ones.

Giveback & Donate

Volunteering time during the holidays is a great way to giveback to those less fortunate. If your kids are younger, have them pick out some toys and clothing that no longer fits to donate. Involving them and talking about why during the process.
