Potty Training with Pull-Ups

Sharing is caring!

A few months ago we dedicated a long holiday weekend to potty training Isabella. She knew she was ready and we definitely were too! Having two little ones in diapers was certainly not ideal. I had read several other mommy blogs and “expert” websites with tons of advice on how to potty train and most often Pull-ups were recommended. We created a potty training plan that worked for our family and set out to our Walmart Neighborhood Market to buy our first pack of Pull-ups Learning Designs Training Pants.

Isabella was so excited when she saw her favorite character Doc McStuffins was on her new pants! She couldn’t wait to bring them home and wear big girl pants.

For three days we stayed home to train. I’m not going to lie. It wasn’t easy. After the first day I felt like the worst mother on earth, but we went to bed (with our Pull-Ups on) and woke up the next morning refreshed (and dry). The second day was still filled with plenty of accidents, but she was getting the hang of pulling her training pants up and down on her own and sitting on the big potty.

Day 3 came and that was when all those stories I had read about “Potty Training in 3 Days” made sense. It literally took until the third day for it to all click. Day three came with ZERO accidents. Every time she had to go potty, she let us know and we raced off to the bathroom where she climbed up on her stool, pulled down her Pull-Up and did her business.

Isabella is now fully potty trained during the day. Every night at bedtime she picks out her pajamas and puts on a new nighttime diaper. Night potty training will come some day, but in the meantime wearing Pull-Ups gives us the peace of mind needed for a good nights sleep. In the morning we use Huggies Natural Care Baby Wipes to clean up for the day. We love these wipes because they’re hypoallergenic, fragrance and alcohol free with a touch of aloe and Vitamin E. They’ve been gentle yet effective enough for my kids little tooshes.

Moms: These are also awesome for removing makeup on your face! I’ve even used them for wiping up spills and all the sticky things you find around the house 😉

That is wonderful that she picked it up so quick! My little many was totally stubborn about it. At first he caught on for a few days and then basically refused. It took us almost a year to get him to really be okay with it.... it turned out he didn't want to do it because his best friend didn't.... Congrats on the potty training!

My son is 17 months now so that's been on my mind. My friend keeps telling me to just let him go naked and grab him and run to the bathroom when he needs to go, but I'm sure I'd be stuck cleaning up a lot! Haha. I'll have to read more about this training in 3 days idea! Congratulations! ?
