4 TOP FOODS TO FEED YOUR BABY

Sharing is caring!

Starting solid foods is an exciting time for baby and parents. We get to watch our little ones faces as they explore new textures and tastes. Most of us will actually get it all on video. Firsts are exciting! Pediatricians currently recommend that babies don’t start solids until 6 months old. At this time there isn’t much that’s off limits anymore. The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology states that once your baby has tried other fruits and veggies they shouldn’t have to wait to try foods like nuts, organic yogurt and eggs, which is great because these are some of the best foods to feed your baby. They’re packed with nutrients and vitamins. (You should always have a conversation with your pediatrician or allergist if a history of allergies is present in the family.)

Here are a list of other great foods you can start your baby on when they’re ready.

Nut Butters

Peanut butter is life. Let’s just all agree on that. My kids love it and if you buy the right kind (no added sweeteners) it contains a good amount of protein, fatty acids, vitamin E and other minerals.

Eggs

You no longer need to wait until after one to serve your baby eggs of any kind. Eggs are packed with iron, protein, and vitamins A, D, and E. Plus they’re super easy to prepare scrambled for those tiny fingers.

Yogurt

After we tried out some veggies and other fruits, we skipped right to whole milk baby yogurt. Even with my kids milk protein intolerance, they were able to easily handle yogurt at about 10 months of age. If no history of issues is present you can even try yogurt with your 6+ month old baby.

Our toddlers love the fruit and yogurt pouches available in several flavors including Apple & Blackberry and Strawberry & Banana. They’re easy to throw in the toddler bag for weekend outings and the preschooler’s lunch bag as a snack. With all the germs and viruses going around, yogurt is a great source of probiotics to help maintain a healthy belly.

Happy Family has a great line of non-GMO, organic baby yogurt loaded with nutrients and probiotics that can nourish your baby’s body. Best part is they don’t contain any added sweeteners and my kids love it! Happy baby = happy mom! Happy Family’s whole milk organic yogurt line is now available at Target. Check here to find out which varieties your local Target carries.

Red Meat

Old school pediatrician’s will usually say parents can start feeding cereals to babies at four months of age. Now that new research has come about, the new age is 6 months old and cereals don’t need to be used. While babies do need iron enriched foods, red meat is a great option. No joke! We were big fans of baby-led weaning and our little guy would munch down on strips of fully-cooked steak. More conservative parents can opt for the purees. 😉

Happy Family organic yogurts are made with whole milk  and NO added sweeteners! Find them in the cold section near the dairy/produce. To find out which flavors your store carries, check the store locator.

Starting solids is so much fun! My little guy has a dairy allergy, so we haven't tried the yogurt ones, but we love the fruit and vegetable pouches!

My son really loved Happy Tots dinner pouches. He was a very picky eater. We never tired the yogurt. Might have to get some.
