Have your heart set on a faux olive tree but can’t pay the price? Let’s gather some simple supplies and DIY your own olive tree for WAY less!
Faux olive trees are the trendiest of all the faux indoor trees. However, the retail price for some of them is EXPENSIVE and way out of my budget. So while this olive tree is beautiful, I figured I could probably DIY my own version for a fraction of the price.

How to Make Your Faux Olive Tree
The first step to making your faux olive tree is to take your thick branch and insert it into the floral foam. This will help keep the “tree” stationary while you insert the stems. Newspaper will help fill the planter as well to provide extra stability.
Once your branch is secure, take a drill bit slightly larger than the width of your faux stems and start drilling holes in your branch at an angle. Typical olive tree branches grow upwards, so you’ll want to keep that in mind as your drilling the pilot holes.
Insert a dab of glue followed by the faux olive stem and continue to arrange in a realistic way. Snip away at the faux stems with the floral wire cutters to create a staggered look with the stems.
Once you’re happy with the arrangement, add some Spanish moss to the top of your planter and place on display.
This really is a fairly simple process and makes a beautiful statement in your living room decor.
