Making Valentine’s Day Special for your Family

Sharing is caring!

Happy Love Month!

How do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Is it a couple’s day or more of a family day?

For us, my husband and I have never really been that mushy gushy couple who goes over the top on Valentine’s Day. However, once our kids were involved it turned into a fun, extremely manageable family day. We make it special by doing things together, making our favorite breakfast, whipping up their favorite Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade, and leaving heartfelt notes on their bedroom doors.

Making Valentine’s Day Special for your Family

It’s important that we show our kids love daily, but having a special day is a fun change from the mundane.

This year, I started to leave love hearts on my kids’ bedroom doors starting on February 1st as a countdown to Valentine’s Day. They have loved waking up each morning to find what mom and dad said about them.

We usually prepare one of their favorite breakfasts together, or if it’s a school day, add cute love notes in their lunch boxes.

One thing that my kids love to do is help in the kitchen…but also, they love homemade lemonade LOL.

Whether it’s a special occasion or an average day, our super yummy Sparkling Raspberry Lemonade is always a huge HIT.

Bonus: It’s sweetened with Truvia® Natural Sweetener!

Truvia® Natural Sweetener is made from stevia leaf extract and contains zero-cal, so you still get that same sweetness you love without all the calories, even on Valentine’s Day!

Here’s how to make it with your family!

Ingredients Used:
½ cup Truvia Natural Sweetener
1 cup of warm water
1 cup of fresh lemon juice
1 cup of cold water
1-2 cups of sparkling raspberry water

Directions:

  1. Stir a ½ cup of Truvia Natural Sweetener into one cup of warm water until dissolved to create a simple syrup.
  2. Juice about 8 lemons which should yield about 1 cup of lemon juice.
  3. Combine the simple syrup and fresh lemon juice in a pitcher.
  4. Add cold water.
  5. Mix in sparkling raspberry water. If making ahead of time, hold off on adding the sparkling water until ready to serve.
  6. Add frozen raspberries and enjoy!

However you enjoy Valentine’s Day, make it sweet with Truvia®!
